Aapravasi Ghat in Port Louis documents the history of indentured labour and migration. UNESCO describes its role in a system that connected Mauritius with India and other parts of the world. This is more than a brief stop between shopping and a beach transfer. Ask about current interpretation and opening arrangements, and allow time to understand the people and labour history represented. Avoid reducing the site to a generic colonial landmark.

Understand Le Morne as more than a view

Le Morne Cultural Landscape is a separate World Heritage property. Its cultural significance should be part of the decision to visit, not eclipsed by mountain and beach photographs. If an outdoor activity is proposed, establish the actual route, guide requirements, effort and access rules separately from the heritage description.
