Start with the side of the falls you intend to visit

Mosi-oa-Tunya / Victoria Falls is a shared UNESCO property on the Zambezi. A shared inscription does not make Zambia and Zimbabwe one entry jurisdiction or one booking. Confirm which side your accommodation, airport and excursions use. If you want to visit both, check border formalities and transport separately. Ask about current viewing conditions and access for your dates rather than assuming photographs taken at another time represent your visit.

Compare the full waterfall experience

The UNESCO description emphasizes the river’s drop through basalt gorges and the surrounding spray. For practical planning, decide whether your priority is walking viewpoints, interpretation or an independently booked activity. Those are not necessarily included in the same admission or hotel package. Ask about walking surfaces, rain protection for belongings and mobility access. Do not assume an adventure activity is appropriate for everyone; request its own conditions, operator credentials and cancellation terms.

Choose one onward conservation interest

Zambia’s tentative heritage inventory includes places such as Bangweulu, Kasanka and Lower Zambezi. Tentative status is not World Heritage inscription, and these names should not be treated as interchangeable short excursions. Ask a provider to explain the specific experience and transfer needed. If wildlife is your priority, build the itinerary around confirmed accommodation and authorized activities rather than filling spare days after the falls. Sightings and seasonal conditions cannot be guaranteed.

Protect the connection home

For a combined trip, obtain the actual sequence of road or flight transfers and clarify baggage limits, park charges, meals and disruption arrangements. Leave a buffer before your international departure rather than tying a remote return to a tight connection. Verify current entry and health requirements, especially for a multi-country itinerary.
