Burundi’s UNESCO tentative submission places the royal residence at Gishora in the Gitega area and links it with royal ritual and sacred drums. The subject is more than a performance venue. Ask a host to explain the cultural context, the custodians’ role and appropriate visitor conduct. A performance should only be expected when genuinely arranged and welcomed; do not treat ceremonies or sacred objects as entertainment available on demand.
Use heritage status accurately
Gishora, Lake Tanganyika, Rusizi and other places appear in Burundi’s tentative inventory. They are not inscribed World Heritage properties.
