Ask what an Okavango stay actually includes
The Okavango Delta is an inscribed World Heritage property, but that designation does not make every camp or activity equivalent. Ask for the precise location, means of arrival and activities offered during your dates. Establish whether transport, guiding, meals and conservation fees are included. Do not assume that every property provides both water-based and vehicle activities, or that promotional photographs represent the conditions you will encounter. Choose the confirmed experience rather than the most dramatic image.
Give Tsodilo its own cultural context
UNESCO identifies Tsodilo as a major rock-art landscape with continuing spiritual significance for local communities. It is not merely an outdoor gallery to explore without guidance. Ask about authorized visitor arrangements and follow custodians’ instructions about routes and photography. Do not touch paintings or remove material. If rock art is a key interest, give it dedicated time rather than treat it as a casual stop squeezed between distant wildlife destinations.
Do not turn the national inventory into a fast loop
The Chobe–Linyanti system, Central Kalahari and Makgadikgadi landscapes appear in Botswana’s tentative heritage inventory. They represent distinct planning choices, not additional guaranteed activities at a Delta camp. Request a route that explains why each base is included and what transfers cost in time and money. A shorter trip may benefit from fewer camps, while a longer one still needs confirmed access, suitable transport and realistic expectations of wildlife.
Compare self-drive and arranged transfers honestly
If considering driving, verify vehicle suitability, permitted routes, recovery support and park reservations with the relevant authorities and rental company. Do not infer that a track is appropriate from a navigation app alone. For arranged transfers, clarify baggage restrictions and missed-connection procedures. Check entry and health requirements for the whole itinerary, including any Namibia or Zimbabwe extension.
